COVE TOURNAMENT - MONDAY 2nd MAY
Well done to all the teams who participated in the Cove Tournament on Monday - I hear it was a great day. Yateley was represented by 7 teams, U10 Girls, two U12 Girls, two U9s and two U11s.
U10 Girls - Drew one match against the eventual winners Aldershot and thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Lots of great calling, running between the wickets, some super shots (well done Maisie scoring your first 4 in your first ever match) and some great bowling too. Aryana took her first wicket (bowled) in her first ever match while Millie found her line and length to deliver some super balls. Hannah and Libby stoically defended some attacking bowling while Safa set the tone as captain chasing down in the field and calling for runs. Well done girls...
U12 Girls - A superb attitude saw our younger U12 team finish the tournament smiling and with a growing confidence. For 3 of our girls it was their first cricket match and they stepped up to the plate 100% with the support of their fellow players.
So many wonderful moments today...Megan diving in the field and smashing the ball with confidence, Charlotte calling for runs, backing up superbly and making it seem effortless, Hannah bowling some beautiful balls and chasing down hard in the field, Rachel finding her line and length and pinning down the batswomen, Ella going for her shots and throwing herself into the fielding and Nayani athletically flying between the wickets and delivering some unplayable balls.
The weather looks set to improve and we can't wait for the rest of the season! Well done girls!
U12 Girls - 2 wins out of 3 matches with a 1 run victory over Cove setting a tense tone! A friendly match against our fellow Yateley Girls ending with a hard fought battle against our old friends Aldershot. Lots of magic moments for everyone today with highlights for all... Megan's beautiful cover drive for 4 v Aldershot, Shannon chasing down a turning ball to stop a 4, Eve's delight at her superb over v Cove where she pinned down the batswoman, Rosalyn and Josie's cheeky but wonderful backing up and calling for runs with such confidence in each other and Sasha's near maiden over at a crucial time v Cove.
Most importantly the girls played with a real sense of joy and team work - roll on summer season!
U9A - won the Plate Final
U9B - reached the plate semi final

Everyone played their part batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping.
Joseph Simmons – captained the side well, wicket kept, contributed steadily with the bat and bowled well taking some crucial wickets.
Ethan Moss – First class, outstanding batting with 36 off 7 balls in one innings, unplayable bowling and the best fielding in the tournamnet.
Josh Benton – opened the batting with a flurry of wonderful shots, tidy bowling always bowling the last crucial over was excellent throughout!
Sanjeet Garood – Excellent batting with Ethan, matching his scoring at times, excellent tidy bowling, steadily taking wickets, nice performance!
Ollie Johnson – Solid batting with Jo Simmons, great bowling and some useful wickets taken uring matches, also had a go at wicket keeper with good effect.
Karran Padda – Good batting and fielding and very tidy accurate bowling, with a few wickets too.
Josh Petrov – First competitive match of cricket, his keenness made up for his lack of experience, a joy to coach and that first over bowled in a match in the semi final showed great courage, a work in progress with real promise J.
Thanks also to Rob Moss for scoring all day long and for giving crucial coaching input, advice and encouragement to the boys - invaluable.
